At Hair Art Designs on East 19th Street in Gramercy, color is our obsession. One shared philosophy: color should look like it belongs on you — not like it was applied to you.
I highly recommend Hair Art Designs salon and Iryna! … it’s the best hair colour and hair cut I have ever had in my life. I couldn’t be happier. I really wanted to get rid of yellow and horrible orange tones and she did it, I have beautiful ash blonde…
Officially OBSESSED with my cut and balayage. Irina was brilliant. I think it was the first time someone actually KNEW HOW to do a real balayage. … She’s extremely intuitive. Extremely knowledgeable. She’s an artist! …
I am absolutely thrilled with how my hair turned out! Since this was my first time getting a balayage, I wasn't sure what to do, but Evgeniia was fantastic. She used her expertise to recommend exactly what would look best, and the results are stunning. …

Hand-painted, sun-kissed dimension that grows out beautifully — no harsh regrowth lines. Best for low-maintenance, natural-looking color, with touch-ups every 3–5 months.
Balayage’s bolder cousin: hand-painted, then wrapped in foil to lighten more dramatically. Best for brunettes who want visible dimension without going fully blonde.
Foils, sections, and that crisp, polished look, with lowlights layered in for depth. Best for all-over brightness and first-time color clients.
Two color techniques combined for the ultimate blonding. Best for going dramatically lighter, dark-to-blonde transformations, and grey blending.
Lived-in brunettes, fantasy colors like rose gold and lavender, reds built to fade beautifully, and grey blending that looks intentional.
A soft, melted root that makes grown-out highlights look like a deliberate style choice, plus the toner that separates “bleached hair” from “beautiful blonde.”
Uneven lightener, banding, color buildup, and orange or brassy tones that won’t budge. This is where we earn our reputation.
Every stylist at Hair Art Designs approaches color differently. Four stylists, four distinct specialties — here’s who you want based on what you need.
Iryna — Founder, 16+ years. Trained in all hair types and textures, including natural, curly, coily, and straight hair. She formulates for your specific hair — not a generic swatch. Best for: complex color, natural texture color, corrective work.
Jenipher — 9 years, lived-in color and blonde specialist. Jenipher has a gift for making blonde look effortless and dimensional. If you want a buttery, sun-kissed blonde that doesn’t go brassy, she’s your person. She’s also exceptional at brunette-to-blonde transformations and balayage.
Rafael — 17+ years, former Brooklynettes stylist with editorial work in Vanity Fair and Glamour. Rafael understands how color reads in different lighting — on camera, on stage, on the street. He’s excellent with fashion-forward color, reds, and high-contrast looks.
Evgeniia — Former lawyer, Vidal Sassoon-trained precision cutter who brings that same exacting approach to color. Clean sections, meticulous application, zero bleeding or overlapping. Best for: precision color placement, foliage, and any service where clean lines matter.

Long, wavy hair with blonde highlights
We use professional color lines because they perform differently than drugstore products. IGK is vegan, cruelty-free, and packed with bond-building ingredients. Wella is the industry standard for consistent, predictable results.
Milbon, a Japanese formulation, is exceptional for maintaining hair health during chemical services. Keratin Complex smoothing treatments protect color while transforming texture.
We don’t do color that damages your hair beyond repair. We don’t do color that looks good in the salon but falls apart in two weeks.
Box dye disasters. Bad bleach jobs. Three different colors from three different salons. Color correction is not a single appointment with a magic formula — it’s a process: we assess what’s going on, develop a multi-session plan if needed, and execute methodically.
We look at your hair history, your current condition, your lifestyle, and how much maintenance you’re willing to do.
Then we tell you what’s possible — and what’s not. No false promises. Just honest expertise.
We consult on placement (face-framing vs. full dimensional), intensity (subtle vs. high-contrast), and tone (warm, cool, or neutral).
We protect your hair’s integrity through every step, using bond-preserving additives and never processing beyond what your hair can take.
The final step in any blonde or lightened service: toner neutralizes unwanted warmth and deposits the exact shade you want — beige, pearl, ash, champagne.
We don’t do color that leaves you stuck — we always leave a path forward.
Balayage is hand-painted, so it grows out gracefully with no harsh regrowth lines. Plan on touch-ups every 3–5 months.
Foliage is balayage’s bolder cousin. We still hand-paint, but we wrap sections in foil to trap heat and lighten more dramatically — higher contrast, with the same soft, painted-on feel.
It depends on your hair’s condition and history. All over platinum is by consultation only, and we’ll be honest if we need to spread the process across two appointments.
Yes. Iryna, our founder, is trained in all hair types and textures, including natural, curly, coily, and straight hair.
Yes. Sometimes that means removing color first; sometimes it means filling the hair before applying the target shade. Color correction is $150 per hour, and we’ll give you an estimate at the consultation — and stick to it.
Every color service and price is listed in our hair color pricing above, from Root Shadow ($50) to Double Process and Custom Color ($350-$650). Custom Color is best booked by consultation.
